XML Feeds

Applies to: Advertisers · Optional feature — available when your network has it switched on

What this is#

An XML feed is a URL with a list of items — for example products or articles, each with a title, image, link and price — that the platform reads and turns into native ads. Instead of uploading every ad by hand, you connect a feed to a native RON campaign and the campaign's ads follow the feed: new items become ads, and items that disappear from the feed can be switched off automatically. Active feeds are re-imported regularly, so the ads stay in step with your catalogue.

The XML Feeds page lists your feeds. The campaign wizard is where you connect one to a campaign.

XML feeds are available when your network has switched them on. For now, a new feed is set up by support: the page says "XML feed editor is coming soon — please contact support to create or edit a feed."

When you'll use this#

  • You promote many products or articles that change often, such as a shop catalogue, classifieds or news.
  • You want native ads that always show current items without editing ads by hand.

Step by step#

Get a feed set up#

  1. Make sure your feed is reachable at a public URL and lists one item per entry with its title, image, landing URL and, where relevant, price.
  2. Send the feed's URL to support (or your account manager) and say which native ad type it's for.
  3. Once it's added, it appears on XML Feeds with its Name, Ad Type, Status, URL and Date Added.

Connect a feed to a campaign#

  1. Create or edit a native RON campaign (see Creating a Campaign).
  2. On the Filters step, pick the feed under XML Feed. The field only appears for ad types where your network allows feeds.
  3. Under Feed Settings:
    • Deactivate items not found in feed — on by default: when an item is no longer in the feed, its ad is switched off.
    • Default Bid — the bid used for feed items (default 0.005).
  4. Save the campaign. The feed's items are imported as the campaign's ads.

Manage feeds#

  • Search the list by name or URL.
  • Delete removes a feed you no longer use. Change it in campaigns first, so they don't lose their ads.
  • An Active feed is re-imported regularly; a Paused one isn't.

Options reference#

Item What it is
XML Feed The feed a campaign takes its native ads from.
Deactivate items not found in feed Switch off ads whose item left the feed.
Default Bid The bid for the feed's ads.
Status Active feeds are refreshed; Paused feeds are not.

Example#

Marco runs a used-car site with a few thousand listings that change daily. Support adds his listings feed. He creates a native RON campaign, picks the feed under XML Feed, keeps Deactivate items not found in feed on and sets a Default Bid. Every new listing becomes a native ad, and sold cars stop being advertised as soon as they leave the feed.

Tips#

  • Keep Deactivate items not found in feed on unless you have a reason not to; otherwise sold-out items keep running.
  • Use good, consistently sized images in the feed: native ads are only as good as the items they're built from.
  • Start with a modest Default Bid and adjust once you see which items perform.
