Audio ads

Applies to: Publishers

Audio ads are short spots, 3 to 120 seconds long, played before or during podcasts and web radio. A small bar under the player shows the ad label, the advertiser's companion image and a countdown. Clicking the bar opens the advertiser's site.

For advertisers#

  1. Upload the spot in Creatives, type Audio. mp3, m4a, aac, ogg, opus and wav files are accepted. They are converted to mp3 on upload.
  2. Create a campaign and pick Audio ads as the ad type.
  3. In the ad, pick the spot from the media bank, or enter the https URL of an audio file you host. Add a destination URL. A companion image (an https image URL, for example 300×250) is optional.

Impressions count when the spot starts playing. The ad server also records how many listeners reach a quarter, half, three quarters and the end of the spot.

For publishers#

  1. Create an ad zone of type Audio Ads.
  2. In Audio Ad Settings:
    • Your audio player: the CSS selector of your <audio> element, for example #podcast.
    • Mid-roll every (minutes): 0 plays an ad before the first play only.
    • Ad label, plus skip and capping as on video zones.
  3. Save, then copy the code from the Ad Zone Code tab onto the page with the player.

Podcast and radio apps can use the zone's VAST URL instead. The answer is a VAST 4 audio ad with its companion image. The Connected TV and streaming apps settings, such as ad pods, VMAP and server-side ad insertion, work on audio zones too.
