Video Ad Server
GoAdserver is a video ad server for publishers, ad networks and ad managers. Serve pre-, mid- and post-roll ads to your own player through VAST, add video to pages that have no player, and sell every video impression to direct buyers, your own campaigns and real-time bidders from one platform, under your own brand.
What a video ad server does
A video ad server decides which video ad plays in each slot, delivers the file and counts what happened: impressions, clicks and conversions. For a publisher it fills the player and the page; for an ad network it is the place where video campaigns, video inventory and video demand meet. GoAdserver does both, so the same platform that serves your banners and native ads also runs your video business. New to the topic? Read ad server for video advertising on our blog.
Every video format in one platform
- Video (in-player): pre-, mid- and post-roll in your player, with skip time, frequency capping and country filtering per zone.
- VAST and linear VAST: a VAST tag URL for any player that speaks VAST. Paste it in the player’s ad-tag setting and the player requests the ad itself.
- In-video plugin and in-video banner: overlay ads inside your own player (HTML5 video, JW Player, KT Player or Flowplayer).
- InPage video: auto-playing video in the article flow, for sites without a player.
- Video slider: a small video that slides into a corner of the page, with a close button and display timing.
- Video carousel: several video ads in one unit.
- Reels: portrait video for mobile, full-screen placements.

Fill every video impression
Each video zone can take demand from several sources at once: direct deals and flat-rate campaigns with priority delivery, self-serve CPM and CPC campaigns from your advertisers, and real-time bidding over OpenRTB, where GoAdserver works as SSP and DSP. The ad server picks the best-paying eligible ad for every request and makes its decision in under a millisecond, so the player is never left waiting.
Targeting, capping and control
Video campaigns target by country and region, device, operating system, browser, language, connection, ISP, time of day, content category and retargeting audiences. Frequency caps keep the same viewer from seeing one ad too often, floor prices protect your rates, and per-zone controls decide which campaigns may run in which player. Advertisers upload their video creatives once and rotate them automatically with creative pools.
Measured, clean and reported in real time
Every impression, click and conversion is tracked, and bot traffic is filtered and reported separately, so publishers are paid and advertisers are charged on the same human numbers. Real-time statistics break video performance down by zone, campaign, country, device and hour, and conversions come back through postbacks and the built-in tracker.
How it works
- Create a video zone for each player or page placement and pick its type: video, VAST, in-page video, slider, carousel or reels.
- Install it: paste the VAST tag URL into your player’s ad-tag setting, or put the zone’s embed code on the page for in-page formats.
- Add demand: your direct deals, your advertisers’ campaigns and RTB buyers compete for every impression.
- Watch the numbers: earnings per zone, country and device appear in real time, and you adjust floors, caps and targeting while it runs.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a video zone and a VAST zone?
A video zone is played by GoAdserver’s own video player integration on your page; a VAST zone gives you a tag URL for a third-party player that requests and plays the ad itself. Use VAST when your player supports it.
Can I serve video ads without my own player?
Yes. In-page video, video sliders, carousels and reels play inside the page, so sites without a player can still earn from video demand.
Can advertisers buy video through RTB?
Yes. Video inventory can be sold to outside buyers over OpenRTB, and your own advertisers can bid next to them in the same auction.
Who uses it
- Publishers and video sites that want to monetise their own player and pages.
- Ad networks that sell video inventory to advertisers under their own brand, see the white-label ad network.
- Ad managers and media buyers who run video traffic across several sources, see ad management.
