Gallery Traffic: Partner Feeds & Tracking Links

Applies to: Publishers · Ad manager setups only, when the network has the module switched on

A partner feed is one gallery partner's own copy of your catalogue. The partner pulls it from a private link, and every video link in it is a tracking link: it points at your ad-serving domain, which counts the click and sends the visitor on to the video on your tube.

Adding a feed#

Open Publisher → Gallery Traffic → Partner feeds and click Add feed. You need a tube source first.

Field What to enter
Name Your own label for the partner.
Tube source The catalogue this feed hands out.
Pubid to give this partner The number that identifies this partner in their links and in your reports. Required.
Their site id Optional. If one partner runs several sites, give each its own site id (or let them fill in s= themselves) to see and pay them per site.
Format CSV, JSON or XML, whatever the partner's site imports.
Max rows (0 = all) Caps how many videos the feed contains.
Sorting The order of the rows, for example post_date desc for newest first.
Columns this partner gets Which fields the feed includes.
Tracking link base (optional) Leave empty: links then use your own ad-serving domain. Fill in a full https:// address only to use another tracking host.
Click link format Standard (…/video?s=…&sig=…) for almost everyone. Pick No question mark (…/video/site/sig) only if this partner strips everything after the ? when they publish a link; those links can't carry utm tagging.
Partner account Optionally give the partner a read-only login. See Gallery Partner Dashboard.

The feed row shows the partner's Pull link. Copy it and send it to the partner; they fetch it on their own schedule. The same link gives three things:

  • the full catalogue (the default),
  • only the new videos since their last full pull (kind=new),
  • only the ids of removed videos (kind=deleted), which they should take down.

The link's query string follows the common tube-dump layout (feed_format, csv_separator, csv_list_separator, limit, sorting), so a partner who already imports a dump only swaps the address. The Pulls column shows when they last fetched it.

New link issues a new pull link for the feed. The old link stops working at once, and so does every tracking link already published on the partner's pages, along with every page link made for them. Use it when a link has leaked or the deal ends. It can't be undone; a partner who should stay needs the new link and has to re-import.

A feed gives one tracking link per video. For anything else on your tube, such as a category, your index or a top list, use Page link on the feed row: enter the Page address and click Make link. The result carries the same partner and site tagging, so those visits are counted and billed like video clicks. Page links must point to your tube's domain (the source's Tube domain) or a subdomain of it. Nothing is stored; issuing a New link for the partner retires all their page links too.

What happens on a click#

  1. The visitor clicks a link on the partner's site.
  2. Your ad-serving domain checks the link's signature, counts the click, and filters bots.
  3. The visitor is sent on to the video on your tube, with the partner's pubid and site id attached, so the rest of the visit is attributed to that partner.

A link with a wrong or missing signature is not counted.
