Redirect, mail click and click zones

Applies to: Publishers

What this is#

Ad zones that are a link, not a box on your page. Each zone gives you a URL; when a visitor follows it, the ad server picks the best ad for that visitor and sends them straight to the advertiser's landing page. The visit counts as a click.

  • Redirect: send any traffic you control (a link, a domain you own, traffic you buy) through the zone.
  • Mail click: the same for links in your newsletters and mailings; it also passes the subscriber's email address on to the advertiser.
  • Push clicks and Native clicks: click URLs for your own push notifications or your own native widgets; the visitor lands on a push ad or native ad from the network. These two have no settings of their own, so they're covered here rather than on their own page.

For fixed links on your own site, see Hardlinks. Smartlinks that spread clicks over several offers aren't ad zones you create here; you build them as tracking links, see How to create a smartlink.

Which formats you can create depends on your network: it decides which ad zone types are switched on, and each type also needs a permission on your account.

When to use it#

  • You own traffic that isn't a web page: an old domain, a QR code, a "more offers" button, a link in a video description.
  • You send newsletters (Mail click).
  • You run your own push or native distribution and want the network's ads behind the clicks.

Settings#

Redirect (Redirect Settings):

Setting What it does Default
Country filter None, As Whitelist (only these countries) or As Blacklist (all but these), with Quick select for tiers. None

Mail click, Push clicks and Native clicks have no settings card. The general zone settings (name, website, category, rating, status) apply to all; see Ad Zones.

Getting the code#

The Ad Zone Code tab shows a URL instead of a script:

Zone URL
Redirect https://<your ad domain>/redirect.go?pid=<your id>&spaceid=<zone id>
Mail click Email Click URL https://<your ad domain>/mc.go?spaceid=<zone id>&email=, put your mailing tool's email merge tag after email=
Push clicks https://<your ad domain>/push.go?pid=<your id>&spaceid=<zone id>
Native clicks https://<your ad domain>/native.go?pid=<your id>&spaceid=<zone id>

Additional Parameters adds subid and sid1–sid5 so you can split results per source in your statistics. Preview opens a Redirect zone in a new tab so you can see where it lands.

Selling it#

These zones can be filled by RON campaigns, CPM campaigns and flat-rate deals, as your network allows. Redirect and mail click zones can also be filled by RTB buyers. Every visit through the zone is logged as a click. Push and native click zones don't serve campaigns of the CPM campaign type.

Tips#

  • Use one zone per traffic source and a subid per campaign, so your statistics show which source pays.
  • In mailings, always fill the email= parameter: advertisers that capture the email bid on it.
  • Don't loop your own pop or redirect traffic back into a Redirect zone; visits that hit the zone over and over are flagged as suspicious.

Troubleshooting#

Symptom Likely cause Fix
Link lands on a blank page or a default page No campaign targets that visitor (country, device). Check the Country filter; ask your network about demand for that country.
Mail click advertiser doesn't get the email The merge tag isn't filled in after email=. Use your mailing tool's merge tag for the subscriber address.
Clicks from one source don't show separately No subid on the link. Add subid (or sid1–sid5) through Additional Parameters.
