How to import ad spend for profit and ROI
Applies to: Tracker & affiliate users · Tracker and ad manager setups only, when the network has the module switched on
Revenue alone doesn't tell you whether a campaign makes money. Connect the ad account you buy traffic with, and the platform pulls its campaign spend once a day and sets it against what your offers earned. Your reports then show cost, profit and ROI next to revenue.
Before you start#
- You have a traffic source under Sources for the network you buy on, and you send that traffic through tracking links of that source. The connect form asks which source the spend belongs to, and it can't be saved without one.
- You have API access at the network: an API key or token for most networks, or a login to approve access (OAuth) for platforms like Meta. The form shows exactly which fields your network needs.
Steps#
- Open Ad Spend in the tracker menu (switch the top bar to Trk on a combined account).
- Click Connect account.
- Under Traffic source, pick the network. Networks the platform can't pull from yet are marked coming soon and can't be chosen.
- Under For tracker source, pick the source this spend belongs to.
- Enter a Label you'll recognise, for example
Meta — main account. - Fill in the API credentials fields the form shows for that network.
- Leave Active — include in the daily sync ticked and click Save.
- On the account's row, click Sync now to pull the spend straight away instead of waiting for the daily run.
Check it worked#
- The account's Status reads Synced and Last sync shows a time.
- The Cost & ROI card shows Ad spend, Revenue, Profit and ROI for the period (switch between Last 7 days, Last 30 days and Last 90 days).
- Cost & ROI by offer shows each offer's share of the spend. A source's spend is split over the offers its traffic reached, by their share of that source's clicks; spend on a source with no clicks in the period stays unattributed.
- Tracker Reports now show cost, profit and ROI next to revenue.
Spend in other currencies is converted to USD when it's pulled, so totals across accounts add up.
Troubleshooting#
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| For tracker source has nothing to pick | You have no sources yet | Create one under Sources (or with Add source in the tracking-link builder), then come back. |
| Status Reconnect needed | The token expired or the network revoked access | Edit the account and enter fresh credentials. Leave a field blank to keep what's stored. |
| Status Sync error | The network's API refused the request | Check the credentials and that API access is enabled at the network, then Sync now. |
| Status Rate limited | The network limits API calls | Wait; the next daily sync retries. |
| Spend shows but ROI per offer is empty | The source had no clicks on your tracking links in that period | Make sure the traffic runs through tracking links of this source. |
