Cleaning Up Unused Items

Applies to: All users

What this is#

Cleanup lists everything in your account that stopped serving, so you can switch off or archive what you no longer need. Advertisers see campaigns, ads, creatives, creative pools and URL pools. Publishers see ad zones and websites.

Every row shows:

  • Last served: the last day it showed an impression, or never.
  • Idle: how many days ago that was.
  • Lifetime impressions, clicks and spend (earnings on the publisher side), counted over its whole life, not just the period you picked.
  • In use: how many live ads or pool items still use it. For a website, how many ad zones sit on it.
  • Suggestion: what we would do with it.

Cleanup never changes anything on its own. You decide what to pause or archive.

When you'll use this#

  • Your lists have grown long and you want to find what is dead before you reorganise.
  • You plan to upload new creatives and want to clear out the old ones first.
  • You want a file of everything idle to go through with your team.

Step by step#

1. Pick how long counts as idle#

Open Cleanup from the menu. Choose 30 days, 90 days, 180 days or 1 year under Idle for at least. Never served lists only items that never showed a single impression.

If you are both an advertiser and a publisher, switch between the two sides at the top.

2. Pick what to clean up#

Each kind has its own tab, with the number of idle items next to it. The list starts with items that never served, then the longest idle.

3. Read the suggestion#

  • Pause: it is still switched on but has not served. Pause it first. You can switch it back on at any time.
  • Archive: it is already off, or it cannot be switched off, and nothing depends on it.
  • Review: it is idle, but something still uses it. Hover the label to see what. Deal with those first: a creative an ad still shows, a pool an ad still uses, or a website with ad zones on it cannot be archived safely.

4. Pause or archive#

Tick the rows and click Pause or Archive. Rows marked Review are skipped when you archive.

Archived campaigns, ads, creatives and ad zones disappear from your lists but are not destroyed: restore them from the deleted view of their own page. Archived creative pools, URL pools and websites cannot be restored from the panel, so archive those only when you are sure.

5. Export the list#

Export (Excel) downloads a workbook with one sheet per kind. CSV gives the same data in one file. Both use the idle period you picked.

Tips#

  • Click a name to open the item itself.
  • The history covers every day the item served, so lifetime figures can be much larger than your recent statistics.
  • RTB campaigns are not listed here; their delivery is reported on the RTB pages.
  • The same list is available in the API under /api/v1/cleanup/advertiser and /api/v1/cleanup/publisher. See API Keys.
