Creative & URL Pools

Creative pools and URL pools let you manage creatives and landing pages once and use them in many campaigns. A pool is a reusable set: attach it to a campaign and the campaign rotates through everything in it. Change the pool and every campaign that uses it follows.

A creative pool holds banners, videos or native ads of one format. Upload files one by one or as a ZIP archive, paste the URLs of creatives you host yourself, or pick creatives from your media library. The campaign serves the pool’s active creatives in the order its sort rule decides: random, best click-through rate (CTR), best conversion rate (CR), or the conversions of one specific conversion type.

Creative and URL pools

What creative pools give you

More variety, less work:

Show your audience several creatives instead of one, without uploading the same files to every campaign again.

Serve what converts:

Sort the pool on conversion rate and the creatives that convert best are served most. Every creative keeps its own views, clicks, CTR, conversions and conversion rate.

A/B testing made easy:

Put the variants in one pool on Random until each has enough data, compare their numbers side by side, then switch to CTR or CR sorting or switch the losers off.

URL pools do the same for landing pages. A URL pool holds several destination URLs, each with a weight, so clicks are split across landers without duplicating ads or campaigns. Its advantages:

Split-test landing pages:

Weighted Random gives each URL its share of the clicks by weight: three URLs at weight 10 get a third each.

Let the best lander win:

Sort on conversion rate or on conversion count and the pool sends more traffic to the landing pages that convert.

Change once, update everywhere:

Shift traffic between landers by changing weights, swap a URL in every campaign at once, or add a sub-ID or UTM tag to a whole pool with one URL prefix.

Both pool types track performance per item, so you can see which banner or which lander actually carries a campaign. Reset a pool’s statistics after a real change, so a performance sort starts fresh instead of ranking history. Pools that no ad uses any more show up on the Cleanup page, ready to archive. Each item can also be scheduled to the minute in its own time zone, with a fallback that serves whenever nothing scheduled is live.

How pools work in GoAdserver

  1. Open Creative Pools or URL Pools in the advertiser menu and create a pool.
  2. Add items: creatives (upload, ZIP, URLs or your media library) or landing-page URLs with a title, a weight and the conversion type they report against.
  3. Pick the sort type. Creative pools: Random, CTR, CR or one tracking pixel. URL pools: Random, Weighted Random, CR or conversion count.
  4. Attach the pool to the ads of one or more campaigns.

Pool actions: clone a pool as a starting point for a variant, switch a pool or a single item on and off, reset its statistics, see which campaigns use it, export a creative pool as a ZIP, bulk-set the language of creatives, and search and replace text in all your pool URLs.

Who uses creative and URL pools

Advertisers and media buyers who run the same creatives in many campaigns, agencies that test landers for clients, and ad networks whose advertisers want rotation without extra work. Pools work with every campaign type in GoAdserver’s ad management, next to the Source Optimizer, which cuts the traffic sources that don’t convert, and the built-in tracker, which records the conversions the CR sort needs.
