GoAdServer’s new Referrer Stopwords feature lets clients control exactly which traffic reaches each adnetwork, automatically, without manual review, and without risking policy violations. Not all traffic comes from the same sources. Now GoAdserver clients decide which traffic reaches each adnetwork, and which does not.
THE PROBLEM: Every adnetwork has its own content policies. What one adnetwork accepts without issue, another may flag, restrict, or block entirely. For publishers and traffic resellers working with multiple demand partners, managing those differences manually is time-consuming and risky. One wrong delivery can damage a relationship with an adnetwork that took months to build. Referrer Stopwords removes that risk from the equation.
GoAdServer clients configure a list of keywords directly inside each SmartZone. When a traffic request comes in, the platform checks the referrer URL against that list. If a match is found, that SmartZone does not activate. The request is then picked up by a different SmartZone connected to an adnetwork that accepts that type of traffic.
The result: each adnetwork receives only the traffic that aligns with its policies. No manual filtering. No incidents. No reports. No risk of account restrictions.

STEP 01: Traffic request arrives
A visitor on a page triggers a SmartZone ad request with a referrer URL.
STEP 02: URL is checked
GoAdServer runs a substring match against the SmartZone stopword list.
STEP 03: Match found
That SmartZone skips the request. No impression is served to that adnetwork.
STEP 04: Traffic is rerouted
A different SmartZone picks it up and delivers to the appropriate adnetwork.
Precise matching, zero complexity
The matching logic runs case-insensitive substring matches against the full referrer URL (including subfolders, slugs, and query parameters, not just the domain). “Casino”, “casino”, and “CASINO” all trigger the same filter. Each SmartZone has its own independent list configured via: SmartZone > General tab > Referrer Stopwords.
Example Keywords:
• casino — blocks any URL containing “casino”
• downloads — blocks any URL containing “downloads”
• torrent — blocks any URL containing “torrent”
• illegal — blocks any URL containing “illegal”
