In-text ads turn words of your own article into ad links. The most frequent words and phrases of the text are looked up as if a visitor had searched for them; each one that matches the keywords of a campaign is underlined. Hover it, or tap it on a phone, and a small card with the ad opens; a click on the card opens the advertiser's page. The impression is only counted when the card opens.

A long weekend in Lisbon sounds expensive until you look at the timetables. Cheap flights leave most European cities on Thursday evening, and a city break of three nights costs less than one dinner out in some capitals.
Book early and fly light. The cheap flights charge for every bag, so we packed one backpack each: two shirts, a rain jacket and a pair of running shoes that doubled as walking shoes on the hills.
Lisbon is built on seven hills, and the old trams only climb some of them. By the second morning we had swapped the tram for a run along the river at sunrise. Good running shoes make the cobbles bearable; flat soles do not.

One practical note before you go. Travel insurance costs a few euros for a short trip and covers the cancelled flight or the twisted ankle on the trail. We almost skipped travel insurance and were glad we did not.
By Sunday night we had walked forty kilometres, drunk a dozen cups of coffee and spent less than a hotel night at home. A city break does not need a long holiday: it needs a cheap seat, comfortable shoes and an early alarm.
